ABOUT ME

A Journey About Us

I am just an insignificant element in this vast universe inhabited by billions. But I feel blessed… blessed by the roots that tie me to that small industrial town of Durgapur , nestled in the heart of West Bengal, India. The town, once an emerald in the city of steel, nurtured me in humble surroundings …. modest in means but rich in nature and spirits.

As I grew beyond my late teens, destiny carried me to distant lands—lands of stunning topography and varied nature. Places where the moon purified the dark of the night, bathing valleys, streams, and hills with her silver glow as life flourished in peace and harmony beneath the daily sun, rising beyond the woods and setting on golden sands. Travelling and living in distant lands, within the boundaries of my country, was more due to professional engagements and seldom by choice. But as it became a normal, few of the things which I always wanted to carry with me, were a few of my childhood hobbies. Those helped me to stay grounded and attached to the small beautiful things that were part of my life. One among them was photography.

The journey as an amateur photographer started under very humble means. My first companion was an Agfa ISOLY II, salvaged from the family closet—a precious twelve-frame film camera. It was through this little wonder that I first began to understand light, shadows, exposure and nurture within a creative form of art. With the passage of time, as I kept getting engrossed within the fascinating landscapes and colourful hues of our natural and cultural richness, the old school equipment lost its steam. I gradually graduated to my first SLR—a Russian beast of an equipment, popular among beginner level enthusiasts like me during those days.  It stayed as my treasured companion for fifteen long years, until the digital age took over. From film rolls to electronic sensors, it was a massive transition, shared by almost all travelers and amateur photographers of my age the world over.

Gradually over the years, the journey that began with “me” was joined by two more beautiful souls who slowly became a part of my world .

It was never “About I”.
It was always “About Us”.

From one corner of the world to another, we now keep walking—seeking His blessings…
to be as humble as a blade of grass and as wise as the trees that never spoke.
